MS Project Training Course

This two or three-day training program is designed for beginners in the knowledge and use of MS Project.

The course structure is designed to familiarize the participant with the major functions and key features of the application, so that the software can be used in the most efficient and effective way within the organized framework of real project management.

Scope & Objectives

What does the program aim for?

The training program follows these key objectives:

  • Mastering MS Project terminology as a common language of communication between project management team members.
  • Using a standard mechanism for the purpose of managing projects and allocated resources.
  • Creating a project plan and a practical management environment, as well as project involvement using MS Project.
  • Continuous planning, monitoring, and control of project performance, automatic calculation, and visualization of trends throughout the lifecycle.
  • Reporting the evolution of projects and involved resources to participating stakeholders.

Covered Competencies

Upon completion of the training program, participants will be able to:

  • Define and create project plans based on Gantt charts.
  • Work with customized options at the Gantt chart level.
  • Update and optimize project plans.
  • Transpose WBS structures and work packages (WP) into the plan.
  • Work with duration estimates and task dependencies.
  • Manage time durations in a project plan and specify milestones.
  • Manage costs within a project plan.
  • Manage activities and tasks within a project plan.
  • Manage the allocation and utilization of human and material resources.
  • Manage constraints, deadlines, and project calendars.
  • Analyze resource utilization at various points in time.
  • Monitor progress, time durations, and project costs.
  • Create project reports specifying data of interest.
Format

Structure, Duration, and Evaluation

  • The program duration is two or three consecutive days per group.
  • Each day consists of 6 hours of actual work, arranged in 4 sessions of 1 ½ hours.
  • At the end of the program, participants will:
  • Take a practical test.
  • Receive a Certificate of Participation.
  • Receive PDUs for their professional development history in project management.
